Artist's Statement:

Having created artworks from childhood, I realized at a young age that I must make a living this way despite the compromises. From the age of fifteen, I painted portraits, signs, storefronts and murals to survive. With little patience for formal education, I chose my own intuition and drive as an artist to develop my skills and follow my passion.

Thirty years later, I am absorbed in my own oil paintings, mixed media assemblages and sculpture with a modest but growing clientele of collectors. Finding Rockaway Beach, I discovered not only a beautiful, natural corner of New York City, but a growing community of artists to share it with. We, the Rockaway Artists Alliance (RAA), have turned "swords into ploughshares" as it were, utilizing Fort Tilden, an ex¬army base, as our arts center. Here we offer workshop, studio and exhibit space to artists and diverse art courses, programs and performances to the public.

A late bloomer, perhaps, I truly feel that I am now just beginning to produce my best works on my own terms. Always learning, developing, discovering, with the freedom to move in any direction, I stay forever young in spirit and hopefully will remain ever interesting.
